No sunset clause for Vets

THE YVMDFL Veterans kicked off the season with a sunset game at the Woori Yallock oval on Saturday.
Following on from the Division 1 Seniors game, the Veteran Tigers came out strongly in the first quarter but in the end, the four-time premiership Croydon North side had the pace casting a long shadow over the Woori effort 15.5.95 to 2.4.16.
Tigers captain coach Brett Simmons, a 10-year veteran of the Vets competition, said the team went out to win, but knew it was up against it with the Croydon North side established Veteran leaders in the competition.
“It’s always fun… not so much when you lose, but you go out to win and the game is always played in the spirit of the game,” he said.
Marysville won its match against Wandin 9.13.67 to 10.6.66 and Upwey Tecoma had a narrow win over Emerald 11.9.75 to 11.8.74.
