Giblin hits ton

SATURDAY was a day made for batting with some big team and individual scores and many centuries.
In the Strachan Shield round 11 matches which commenced on Saturday, Coldstream hosted Mt Evelyn who batted first and completed the day at 6/295cc, Andrew Giblin making a fine 116 and T. Smith taking 2/30 for Coldstream.
Seville travelled to Silvan and batting first, the Seville team were all out right on stumps for 228. The batting was led with a fine innings of 67 from Richard Dicello assisted by Leigh Aitkins (43) and Garry Kear (30). Silvan bowlers toiled well with Clint Sharman (4/40) and Stuart Reynolds (2/29).
At Woori Yallock, Warburton-Millgrove won the toss and batted to reached 8/253cc after the 75 overs with the runs shared between D. Ward (50), Brent Summer (38), Ben Hanson (38), and Tim McKail (35). The Woori Yallock spin bowlers, Andrew Sharp (3/82) and John Ferguson (3/62) did the damage.
Wandin played host to Yarra Panthers and at stumps were 9/333cc with Jason Kennedy (75), Wayne Ross (71) and Scott Hansen (44). Panthers’ Mark Williams bowled well to end with 3/65 and Spacman had 3/61.
In the final match in the DJSS for round 11, Healesville batted first at home against Yarra Junction and were dismissed for 182 (R. Hay 38). Nathan Fall shouldered the bowling with 5/57. At stumps Yarra Junction were 2/42 needing another 141 for a win next week.
In the two RA Finger Trophy matches played this round so far, Launching Place United reached a massive 5/375cc on the very fast Wickhams Road ground with Andrew Hoare 128 not out, G. Abrol 45 not out, Cam Hoare (53) and H. Wadsworth (57). For Hoddles Creek who will have to bat well next Saturday, Jeff Crew took 3/55.
Kinglake are 1/78 with Jamie Morgan 44 not out in reply to Yarra Glen’s all out 195 with Dave Wissell (61), Tom Davey (41) and Jamie Morgan (3/19).
Next Sunday, 11 February the RAFT one-day final, starting at 1pm, will be played at Hoddles Creek between the home side and Gruyere Districts.
