THE Robyn Jane Children’s Centre has been part of the Healesville community for 20 years.
As a not-for-profit childcare centre it is managed by volunteers and staffed by qualified childcare professionals.
“Any operating surplus is directed back to the service,” said centre director Jan Amos.
“There are no owners, directors or share holders requiring a financial return on their investment.”
Ms Amos said Robyn Jane prides itself on the high standard of care and education it provide for the children and the support offered to families.
Staff hold various levels of qualification in children’s services and regularly attend professional development training to ensure the centre stays abreast of current trends and developments in the industry.
“Over the past 20 years there have been many changes in childcare reflecting the changing needs of families and of the change in workforce participation,” Ms Amos said.
She said an increasing number of mothers are returning to work and some families do not have extended family members to call on to care for their children.
“The outcome for children attending a childcare centre which offers high-quality early-years programs remains the same, however,” Ms Amos said.
“It creates opportunities for happier, healthier, better educated children which generates social and economic benefits for the entire community.”
