Warburton Bowls Club support CFA brigades amid fires

The Warburton Bowls Club Annual Tradge Woods Triples Tournament to be held last Saturday was unfortunately cancelled due to the recent Total Fire Ban and extreme weather conditions our local area experienced leading up to the event.

The Warburton Bowls Club sincerely thanks all the competitors for their understanding and support of the tournament as they look forward to next year’s event.

All the food that was going to be provided throughout the day, was donated by the club to the local CFA in support of their wonderful work protecting and controlling the recent bushfire situation throughout our local area.

The weekend pennant competitions will continue this Saturday 17 January with a double header at home.

The Burras top side face a tough challenge against Lilydale second side, determined to finish the second half of the season on a high.

The Burras seconds play top side Heathmont’s fifth side in another tough challenge for the club.

The Burras midweek side play top side, Upwey Tecoma one, away this Tuesday 13 January in a battle between the top two sides to start the new year.

The club looks forward to the continuation of the Jack Attack Triples Competition to be held on Wednesday 21 January.

Also, Intra Club Competitions are all approaching the finals’ stage following many close contests.

The Annual Pink Ribbon Triples Tournament, sponsored by Yarra Valley Professionals, will be held on Sunday 1 February, from 12 midday. Female and male entries accepted of all abilities, including beginners. $10 per player ($30 per team).

The free Warburton Bowls Club Barefoot Bowls evening was unfortunately cancelled last Friday due to the extreme weather conditions.

The previous Friday saw an excellent turnout of over 55 people with everyone having a great time in superb weather conditions.

The Barefoot Bowls evenings will conclude next Friday 16 January from 6pm to 9pm.

All community members, families and friends are encouraged to join in the fun.

All equipment, coaching and music provided.

BBQ food and raffle tickets will be available at a small cost.

Thanks to all the club members who assisted with the organisation of these successful evenings, particularly Paul and Maxine Burke and Michael Woolley.
