Fine weather, fine scores posted

Wednesday 27 September, Par:

Once again, loyal readers, fine weather met the field, opening up the possibility that very good scores would be posted. But Warburton Golf Club members were playing Par, notorious for providing only moderate winning results. But, fear not, folks, Stuart Patrick came through with one of those very good scores. In fact, +7 was good enough to blitz the field, and take home the B-Grade prize. The runner-up and therefore claiming bragging rights in that household, was Patricia Eldridge, with a superb +5. These were easily the best two results on the day, as you shall see. In this grade, balls only reached square. But, in A-Grade the ball rundown extended to -3. The winner here, Sean Kennedy, didn’t get a ball, he received the top $60 voucher, with a creditable +2. And, the runner-up here was Steuart Hawke, with a fine +1, which was a credit to him, as he has other distractions on his mind at this stage. NTPs on the day went home with Stuart Patrick, (the 3rd and the 12th to top off a very profitable day for him), Michael Hibbert (5th), Hatty (9th) and, surprisingly, to your Loyal Scribe (15th).

Friday 29 September, Aggregate Stableford:

A very healthy field of 75 assembled for the pre-Grand-Final public-holiday comp. This large field was always going to provide us with some really healthy results, the healthiest coming from Roger Mataele, Sam Dennis and the Fox boys (Peter and Danny). Their average score was 34.25, no mean feat when you consider all four scores are included. The runner-up team consisted of Ray Gilmore, Shane Campbell, Geoff Fall and Matt Maloney. They recorded a 33.5 result. The winners of NTPs on this day were Geoff Fall (3rd), Darren Wyatt (5th), Hatty (9th), Shane Ford (12th) and Luke Patrick (15th).

Saturday 30 September, Stableford:

Well, who has taken home the Cup (on this occasion the No. 1 voucher), for this day’s event? Of course, while the Pies and the Lions fought it out at the ‘G, only 27 intrepid golfers battled the course to see who would be crowned the ‘Premier’ golfer in this battle. Usually, the course wins, but on this day, my mate, Darryl Ward, came away with the flag after kicking, (err—I mean shooting), a very healthy -43 points. This excellent score should have seen Darryl win by a clear margin, but Joshua Hin also accrued 43 points, forcing a countback. In the end, Josh had to be content with the runner-up prize. If you scored 35+ points, you can claim a ball. NTP winners were Peter Whitehead (3rd), Craig Staggard (5th), P.K. (9th), Clint Toohey (12th) and Darryl Ward (15th, making a good day for you, my friend).
