‘Burra Babies’ head to finals

The Warburton/Millgrove FNC will send their under 17’s to the grand finals this coming weekend on Saturday 2 September.

The 17’s will be taking the court for another 2022 Grand Final rematch against Alexandra FNC.

Another Burra team that has gone undefeated all season and hasn’t missed a beat.

Coach Alex Woods said that the 17 and Under team have stepped it up this season.

“Last year was incredible, finishing 4th and winning the premiership. But this year, has been better. Their development as players and as a team has resulted in them to win all of the 2023 matchups so far with 12 wins in the home and away season,” he said

Woods said that the key component for our 17’s is development and learning, to be ready for senior netball.

“The season this team has had is no surprise with the work they have put in the last two years. I look forward to seeing what this team can bring Saturday,” he said.

Finals netball is a whole different ball game and Woods said that they will definitely be going from the first centre pass until the final siren.

“As long as they put together what they have learnt and gained this season, they can achieve anything on the weekend. It is set to be a quality game against a strong Alexandra FNC, who I am sure will bring their best, also,” he said.

Here are the results for each time they have met this season:

ROUND 5: Burras 18 to Alexandra 16

ROUND 10: Alexandra 9 to Burras 17

ROUND 15: Burras 21 to Alexandra 9

FINAL 1: Burras 16 to Alexandra 8

Another good game is set to be had with both teams being strong throughout the year.

Woods said best of luck to our Burra Babies!

“For 6 of the players, it will be their last game in the Unders, so give it all you have!” he said.
