Wandin 1st XI hosted Lilydale 3rd XI for round 4.
With Wandin having lost their first 2 games, it was a critical game for them to win.
Wandins Captain David Thorne won and toss and chose to bat.
Wandin openers in Rod Aitken and Jamie Elliott got Wandin off to a good start but when Rod and Jamie were out, this brought Tim Thorne and Jamie Okaley to the crease.
Jamie (34) and Tim (68) put on a great effort and battered a treat, putting on a partnership of close to 100 and with the help of late hitting from Miles Rayner (20*) Wandin would post a total of 8/198.
After a good batting performance, it was time for Wandins bowlers to shine, and they did.
Daniel Trembath (2/21 off 7 overs) would take the first wicket in his 3rd over and from there the wickets would fall often with Jackson Kneebone 2/26 off 6 overs, Jamie Oakley 1/25 off 6 overs, David Marshall 1/13 off 4 overs and a great run out by Wandins Captain David Thorne, Lilydale would only make 7/149.
It was a great win by Wandins 1st in a make-or-break game and make sportsmanship displayed by both teams.
Wandin 2nd 11 v Bayswater Park 3rd 11
Wandin travelled down to Bayswater Park and after winning the toss and electing to bat managed to scrape out only 10/113 on a slow ground probably 30 short of par. J Gavin top scored with 40 and R Wannakilasurya took 3/14.
Bayswater ticked the score along at 3/65 before a brilliant direct hit run out from J Gavin, followed by Joel’s 3/12 completing his man-of-the-match effort and securing Wandin a 6-run victory.
Wandin 3rd XI vs South Croydon
The toss was won by Wandin who decided to bowl on a glorious Saturday.
With a decent start to Wandin’s bowling, South Croydon were 1/7 after 3 overs. T. Seager, the usual wicketkeeper, opened the bowling and took 2 wickets to help limit South Croydon to 4/24 after 10 overs. A very good fightback magaed to get South Croydon to 5/98 by the time their next wicket fell. A quick two over spell from M. Seager saw him come away with figures of 2/14 and a first game and bowl of the season for b. Costigan helped Wandin restrict South Croydon to 9/146 by the end o the innings.

Round 8 saw Wandin’s women’s team play against Montrose at Montrose Reserve.
Wandin’s captain Olivia Edwards won the toss and send the wolves into bat on their very fast ground. Sharpness in the field saw Montrose end their batting innings with a total of 169. There were many highlights of Wandin’s bowling innings with Charlotte Edwards bowling 4/11 off 4. Tangi Clancy taking 2/10 and many great pieces of fielding from all. Wandin knew they had to be ready to chase this big total and were confident. Opening the batting Olivia Edwards went out to the crease with Belinder Cuddon. The pair was off to a solid start until the early wicket of Edwards fell. With players out, Wandin struggled to reach the total, however, it was good to see players rise to the challenge. In her first game for Wandin, Grace Seneviatne made a very handy 46*, Gayle Seeger with 12 and opener Cuddon making 14 runs. Unfortunately, these personal efforts couldn’t get Wandin over the line finishing on 6/118 by the 20th over. Wandin will go into round 9 fierce and ready to take on Norwood at Mullum Reserve.
