Another challenging week on and off the green saw the Burras record two frustrating losses and one victory.
The Weekend Warburton 1 side hosted Ivanhoe 1 at home and after leading for most of the game, the Burras failed to hold off a strong finish from their opponents to go down overall by the slender margin of two shots, 78 to 80. Another wonderful game played in great spirit and enthusiasm from both sides.

Yarra Junction Bowls report
With two home games scheduled this week the Yarra Junction Bowing Club weren’t able to take full advantage of the anticipated home ground wins, but still enjoyed some great bowling nevertheless.
Tuesday’s midweek game against Donvale, played in hot conditions, was a battle till the end. With two of the three rinks completed and team 1 about to start the last end the overall scoreboard was level at 61 points. Although well ahead in their own game at 25:18, team 1, John, Gatsey, Gwen and Noel, were left to bring it home for the club, which they did by five points. A great finish which keeps hopes alive for a possibility of a finals spot all going well over the remaining season.
The weekend’s weather was more comfortable for the game against Dandenong with each winning two of the four rinks, but the overall win went to Dandenong 80 to 65. It appears that YJBC will have to work very hard to gain a top four place in finals this season but won’t give up trying and enjoying the game in the remaining weeks.
Social bowls continues and the new added time slot of 4pm to 7pm on Thursday evenings has opened up the opportunity for those working to be able to enjoy evening games and practice. This new initiative has also resulted in new members joining up, so if you’ve ever considered bowls and there has been no opportunity for you, now there is.
Contact the club via YJBC facebook page or website or turn up Thursday evenings and you will be welcomed.
Barefoot Bowls was washed out this week but will continue weather permitting every Friday evening 6.30 to 8.30pm.
