Flooding alert for Upper Yarra and Bunyip catchments

State Emergency Service have issued a flood watch alert for the Upper Yarra and Bunyip river catchments for tonight (Friday) and into early on Saturday.

The warning comes ahead of an approaching cold front from the west. A cold and unstable westerly airflow will follow the front on Saturday.

Predictions are for rainfall totals of 20mm to 40mm and higher localised totals of up to around 50 mm are forecast for the flood watch area from late Friday into Sunday night.

River rises are likely and there is a possibility of localised minor flooding developing

SES advises residents to stay informed and monitor local conditions with the first step to decide what you will do if flooding impacts you.

The next update is expected by 18/08/2018 10:10 am or as the situation changes.
