Alexander Pinkster’s view of life and the world around him will go on show as part of his ‘Art All Round Us’ exhibition at The Memo in Healesville from 17 August to 25 September.
Alexander is a relative newcomer to the Yarra Valley, and in fact, but to a lesser degree, to painting.
In the vibrant and eclectic collection of 15 works that will go on show at The Memo, there is influence from past occupations, and from his new natural environment.
His art is about colour and the interplay between man-made objects and organic shapes.
Black lines either accentuate or link the colours and shapes creating an harmonious balance between the three elements.
Throughout his paintings, he aims for a symmetry that is pleasing to the eye and calming to the spirit.
Alexander says ideas for his works come from within, but inspiration comes from his immediate environment and surroundings.
An earlier life working in design in the fashion industry, and in landscape design, are also an influence with related aspects of colour, design and form.
“Some of my works are symbolic, some geometrical design, some tell stories of human condition …some are about the environment,” he says.
They reflect life and behind each painting there is a story.
Art All Around Us opens on Saturday, 18 August at 2pm.
