The weather was cold but fine when Warburton Golf Club competitors took to the course on Wednesday 25 July for a stableford contest.
Ray ‘Happy’ Gilmour won with (11) 36 points and the runner-up was ’Smiling’ Stan Slusarek (21) 34 points.
Balls down to 31, and nearest to the pins were Tex Van der Kooi on the third and Ray Gilmour with his second shot on the first.
Play on Saturday 28 July included a special presentation to Bill Dunn, acknowledging his many years’ service to the club as he battles with illness.
The competition was four-man ambrose and the weather was beautiful.
There were a lot of good team scores in and a lot of “if we had have only got those couple of putts we would have won” overheard.
The winning team was Trevor MacNee (5) Barry Le Gassick (17) Paul Kennedy (12) and Lance Atwell (22), nett 54.125.
The runners-up were Dave Hatt (9) Sean Kennedy (9) Ian Kempton (14) and Wayne Kempton (18), nett 54.75.
Balls down to 55.875, and nearest to the pins were Alan Hubbard on the third, Liam Kay on the fifth, Sean Kennedy on the ninth, Paul ‘Snorkel’ Long on the 12th and Ray ‘Happy’ Gilmore on the 15th.
