Most residents familiar with Rotary’s work overseas would be aware of the Milking Cow and Goat Project commenced and driven by the efforts of local Rotarian Wilma Best and her husband, Bruce.
Wilma said the project had delivered 60 milking goats to the care of grandmothers in a village and 10 milking cows to feed and provide milk in three sites of Meru County in Kenya.
Although primarily funded through their efforts with fund-raisers such as regular raffles and the Healesville High School Trivia Night, the project requires a steering force on the ground.
That steering force is Fr Jason Micheni, a member of the Rotary Club of Meru, who is will be in Australia from 2 November until the end of the year.
Fr Jason will visit many Rotary locations where supporters have been providing funds to keep the project running and the other works required to improve life for orphans and villagers.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of Healesville, Fr Jason will be under shelter of a market umbrella at The Walk (Coles) in Healesville from 9.30am to 2pm on 4, 6, 10, 11 and 13 and is looking forward to talking with locals and visitors about the project and life in Kenya.
