Coronation Park in the heart of Healesville proved the perfect fit for the second Rotary Club of Healesville Dog’s Day Out.
Dogs of every description filed into the leafy park on Sunday, 26 March, to compete in over 20 categories from the smallest to the biggest, the shiniest to the prettiest, the dog with the longest at each end – tail and ears, the smiliest, the most resembling their owner, the best man and dog … all in recognition of what great companions the four-legged canines are.
Many of the dogs were rescue dogs, reinforcing the Aussie trait of weighing in for the underdog.
Almost every dog and owner had a story to tell, and they were happy to share them with other dog-lovers on the day.
Rotarian and event organiser, John Robinson, said the day was a huge success with more than 50 dogs entered in the grand parade.
“The venue is just perfect for this event, with the shade and being in the centre of town,” Mr Robinson said.
“It’s been a great day all round.”
