Fire now under control

By Kath Gannaway

A bushfire on the Healesville 48 Road, four kilometres south of Badger Creek is now listed as under control.
VicEmergency issued a ‘Warning’ for Badger Creek, Don Valley, Gruyere, Healesville, Killara, Mount Toolebewong and Woori Yallock at around 4pm, advising there was no threat to communities, but for residents to stay informed and monitor conditions.
Currently there are 14 crews attending the fire, and the forest fire management Victoria has deployed one tanker, three fire-fighting appliances, a first attack dozer, large dozer, and two helicopters to control the fire.
David Sayce, Forest Fire Management Victoria Agency Commander said that the fire had been reduced to a level one and expected that it would be contained and extinguished within the next two hours.
The fire has reportedly burnt half a hectare of bush and its cause is currently under investigation.
An update at 3.45pm had the fire under control.
