A DELACOMBE man has been remanded to face a string of serious charges in court, after crashing into cars and leading police on a pursuit last Sunday.
About 3.15pm on Sunday, 20 November, a car driven by a 35-year-old Delacombe man was involved in a hit-and-run crash in a residential street in Healesville.
The car, which was bearing stolen plates, was then involved in a second hit-and-run on the Maroondah Highway in Healesville, before being involved in a short pursuit with police officers.
Police terminated the pursuit, before spotting the car a short time later in another residential street – the man then rammed the police patrol car, before driving up a driveway and down a footpath and flight of stairs, crashing into the footpath at the corner of Maroondah Highway and Badger Creek Road.
Police located and chased the man, with help from members of the public – the man then entered the Watts River, followed by police officers who then capsicum sprayed him.
He was arrested and remanded in custody, to face Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
He is expected to face numerous charges, including evading police, reckless conduct endangering life and theft of number plates, among others.
