A FAMILY fun day will be held in Olinda on Sunday 27 November to provide residents with information on how to prepare for the upcoming fire season.
Held at the Olinda Football Club Pavilion from 11am-3pm, the RidgeTop Brigades Family Fun and Information Day will educate residents on what to do in the event of an emergency.
There will be information on taking responsibility for the resident’s own safety, by learning as much as they can about the hazard and risk of fire.
The annual event features Olinda, Sassafras-Ferny Creek and Kalorama-Mount Dandenong volunteer fire brigades.
There will be displays including specialist firefighting appliances and equipment, Victoria Police vehicles to view, and junior brigade members showing their skills in demonstrations.
Enabling interaction with volunteer brigade members, the event provides an opportunity to see and talk about what it is to be a volunteer firefighter, or support member, with the prospect of seeking further information and membership.
Children can enjoy face painting, a jumping castle, craft making, a colouring competition, a jellybean count and a giant inflatable slide.
The day is a great chance for local volunteer brigades to meet and interact with the communities and each other, and with other emergency service agencies.
Fire awareness packed with fun
