Help with food disposal

By Peter Douglas

YARRA Ranges Council is reaching out to residents who may be struggling to dispose of food that has gone off without refrigeration, due to power outages since last weekend’s storm.
To assist residents who have been impacted by power outages, Council has made special arrangements for them to dispose of spoilt food waste over this weekend (15 and 16 October).
A garbage truck will be located at the following times and locations:
Saturday, 15 October
* Healesville – Don Road Sporting Complex (Mel 278 H5) 8.30am–11am ‘only’
* Wandin North Recreation Reserve (Mel 119 C12) 12midday–2.30pm ‘only’
Sunday 16, October
* Yarra Junction Recreation Reserve (Mel 288 D7) 8.30am–11am ‘only’
* Belgrave Recreation Reserve (Mel 75 D12) 12midday–2.30pm ‘only’
Council has requested to ensure you give your rubbish to the truck driver for them to place in the vehicle.
Do not leave bags of rubbish outside of these times.
* This arrangement is for spoilt food waste only. Hard and green waste will not be accepted. General household garbage should be placed in your weekly bin for kerbside collection.
