Woman killed in weekend storm

By Jesse Graham

A MILLGROVE woman was killed during the weekend’s storms, after a tree fell onto her property on Sunday afternoon.
About 1.15pm on Sunday 9 October, a tree fell on a property in Adrienne Court, Millgrove.
Emergency services members attended the scene, but could not revive the woman, who is believed to be in her fifties.
Emergency Services Commissioner Craig Lapsley said in a press conference on Sunday afternoon that there had been more than 2200 calls to emergency services by 4pm, with the number “steadily increasing”.
He said trees falling on houses, such as the one in Millgrove, was a “key issue”, with winds faster than 100km/h lashing the region and bringing down trees and power lines.
As of Monday morning, power had yet to be restored to areas of Healesville and surrounding towns.
