A GROUP of Warburton filmmakers are showcasing their work, screening a film made in town on Sunday, 12 June at The Who Club.
A word of warning from the makers – it’s not for children.
At 7pm on Sunday, 12 June, a collective group of filmmakers will be screening their latest feature film, Mt Bride, to residents and visitors.
Director, Karen Grulke told the Mail that the film followed a woman, Angel Heart (Sarah Fletcher), who comes to her hometown and hears rumours about bodies being found in the area.
“But, because she’s got access to Google and the latest news media, and she can’t find any information about any of these dead bodies, she thinks it’s nonsense – until she ends up having to run for her life,” Ms Grulke said.
She said the film also explores the attitudes of some younger people, who are unable to function without mobile internet access or technology.
“The lead character, she’s horrified that she comes to a town and they don’t have EFTPOS – that is just completely horrific,” Ms Grulke said.
“We look back at our youth and go “We were like that”, and we know it’s annoying, but there’s also something beautiful and wonderful about that.”
The film was written and produced by the small collective, with help from others, and filmed around the Warburton area.
Ms Grulke said the group would be looking at making a sequel in the future.
Admission price to the screening at The Who Club, on the corner of Warburton Highway and Thomas Avenue, is $10, and entry is capped at 50 people.
