A HEALESVILLE P-plater has walked away from a spectacular crash on the Healesville-Kooweerup Road that saw his car careen through a barrier and flip into nearby school grounds.
Shortly after 3am on Sunday, 8 May, the 22-year-old driver was driving along the Healesville-Kooweerup Road towards Healesville, when he lost control of the car.
Leading Senior Constable Cliff Argus told the Mail that the car then lost the road, hitting a guard-rail, before hitting an embankment beside the road and flipping into the Worawa Aboriginal College grounds near Barak Lane – some 20 metres away from the road.
Leading Sen Const Argus said the driver was “very lucky”, and miraculously walked away from the crash uninjured.
He said the driver would not face any charges in relation to the crash, and that it was “just an accident”.
When visiting the crash site on Tuesday, 10 May, the car remained on the school grounds near an intact fence, with its front-end destroyed.
The stretch of road where the crash occurred is at the end of a 100km/h zone, where the speed drops down to 80km/h.
