Winging it into downtown Healesville

By ALAN SMITHEE

A LIGHT aircraft has landed in Healesville’s main street, much to the surprise of motorists and pedestrians.

The plane touched down shortly after 10am, 1 April, at the west end of the Healesville main street, and neither the pilot or passenger was injured in the sudden landing.

Speaking to the Mail, the pilot said he had recently launched a new tourist venture, flying high-profile visitors right into the valley, into the main shopping precincts of towns, and a short walk away from the best cafes.

“We have helicopter rides, and this naturally seemed to be the next step,” they said.

At press time, the plane had taken off again, taking down several powerlines and part of the aircraft’s wing.
