SANTA will have some competition in the skies when Lilydale Airport hold their annual presentation of wings and awards to recognise the achievements of trainee pilots over the past 12 months.
The awards will include special recognition of high achievements and presentation of scholarships.
The awards will be preceded by an air display that will include some of the best Australian aerobatic pilots and their high-powered aircraft.
Gates open to the general public for the air display at 1pm Sunday 22 November.
The display will start at 2pm, and will be completed by 4pm, when the presentations will commence.
Admission is by a gold coin, to be collected at the entrance and all money raised will be shared by two local charities – The Australian Men’s Shed in Yarra Glen and Animal Aid in Coldstream.
There may be opportunities for joy flights from Lilydale Flying School, Vintage Aviation, and JamCo Helicopters before and after the display and “Parachute the Beach” will also be conducting tandem jumps.
