A FUND-RAISER for cystic fibrosis held in Woori Yallock last weekend was a great success with the family fun day raising over $20,000 to date.

The day was organised by Adele Ormsby and Haley Toy, mother and aunt respectively of young Brodie who suffers from cystic fibrosis.

The family organised a group called ‘Brodie’s Heroes’ and put on a family fun day on 10 October to raise money for research into the disease.

With over 1000 people in attendance on the day held at Woori Yallock Primary School, Brodie’s Heroes have so far raised $20,283.22 to be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Victoria.

“It went really well,” Brodie’s mother Ms Ormsby said.

“It was a huge day, and we had a few hiccups because we had never run anything like this before but all went pretty good.”
Ms Ormsby said everyone had a great time and that she was very proud of the efforts of all involved.

“So many people had a ball and we are absolutely stoked with how much we’ve raised,” she said.

Ms Ormsby said she was overwhelmed by support from local business that volunteered their time, effort and goods to make the day a success.

“I want to thank Hailey and the rest of our group for organising the day and a lot of the local businesses who gave in some way,” she said.

“Also the Bendigo Bank for the $2500 grant, Hillcrest, Woori Yallock and Launching Place Bakery and Sam’s Butcher and Woori Yallock butcher who donated meat and bread.”

“I need to say a big thank you to all the volunteers on the day,” Ms Ormsby said.

“Brodie’s Heroes is a group of family and friends that all love Brodie and want to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.”

“We wouldn’t have been able to run the day without all our helpers and all the sponsors, donations from the community and local businesses that helped run the day.”

Ms Ormsby and the rest of Brodie’s Heroes are hopeful that through the generous donations from the community they can help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

“Hopefully, one day soon we can find a cure for this horrible disease,” Ms Ormsby said.

“Raising over $20,000 has exceeded all our expectations and we thank all the community for their support.”

The donation deposit account will be left open until Tuesday 10 November for this round of donations and the group are planning to host another event next year.
