HEALESVILLE Hospital’s redevelopment has become a reality, with early works taking place around the hospital site ahead of the18-month-long transformation.
Cranes were on-site at the hospital on Tuesday 25 August, piecing together five sections of a staff office building, which will be refurbished along with the rest of the hospital as part of the redevelopment.
Eastern Health’s capital projects manager Mark Hoffman said the delivery of the sections, which came in on the back of trucks, was part of the early works on the hospital.
“There’s two packages – there’s early works and main works, and this is the early works,” he said.
“Once the relocation of services is undertaken, we can get started.
“This will finish today, so we’ll have the building delivered, sealed, and there’s some more works to undertake.”
Services at the hospital are expected to be relocated by 28 September, and the 18-month, $8.8 million redevelopment works will then get fully underway.
The Mail reported last week that services at the hospital, including palliative care and X-ray, will be moved down-the-line to other Eastern Health hospitals while the works take place. For the full story, visit mail.starcommunity.com.au.
