Eagles star in WorkSafe ad

By KATH GANNAWAY

THE YARRA Junction football/netball community will be in the spotlight on Sunday as WorkSafe rolls out a new advertising campaign at the Eagles’ home ground.
WorkSafe will host a special lunch and community event to launch their latest advertisement during the WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country Game of the Month between Yarra Junction and Thornton Eildon on Sunday 9 August.
The lunch for around 200 people is by invitation, but WorkSafe and the club are keen to include the wider community with plenty of opportunities for locals and visitors to meet guest sports stars and enjoy free family activities.
Among a number of guest speakers will be Hawthorn champion and former coach Peter Knights, Australian netballer Madi Robinson and WorkSafe’s head of operations and hazardous inudstries Melinda Collinson.
The advertisement was been filmed over two days with footage including action shots of the players and crosses to the crowd.
The advertisement will expand on WorkSafe’s current advertising campaign which promotes the message that the most important reason for staying safe at work is not at work at all.
“It’s about recognising that everybody plays an important role in the community and at home, not just at work,” a spokesperson said.
“It’s not just limited to playing. Obviously community teams rely so much on the support of their volunteers, so it’s about embracing that community identity.”
Club president Tony Aulich said the club was very pleased to have been chosen to take part and was looking forward to the launch.
“It’s been a bit of a bonding exercise for us all and it means positive exposure for the club.”
He said they were looking forward to seeing the advert for the first time and have been advised there will also be an entertaining selection of ‘bloopers’ screened.
A number of marquees will be set up for free activities from 10am to 4pm which include the opportunity to have photos taken and placed on badges and fridge magnets with their club’s colours.
