Crossings blitz on the way

By KATH GANNAWAY

WARBURTON police are giving fair warning that they will be ramping up their patrols of school crossings.
Sergeant Tom Wilkinson said concerns had been raised about motorists not observing the 40km/h speed limit, particularly at the Millwarra Primary School’s East Warburton campus.
Sgt Wilkinson said the focus was very firmly on the safety of the children and other crossing users.
“We are asking people to just be aware of the times, and slow down,” Sgt Wilkinson said, and added that they didn’t mind giving people the heads up that they would be blitzing crossings.
“I keep telling the locals, I don’t want your money, we just want compliance, so we have a safe crossing for our children, but if in order to do that we have to issue notices, then that’s what we will do.”
