Blanket cover for coat charity

By KATH GANNAWAY

ONE of the things that came out of a hugely successful coat drive last year, were stories that pointed to an even wider need.
The team at Yarra Valley Innate Chiropractic last year called for coats to distribute to people in need in the Yarra Valley, including homeless people and those who could not afford to buy new coats.
The coats flooded in and were distributed by welfare groups and churches across the valley.
Kerrie Siddle, one of the Innate team, said the success of the program, confirmed what they already knew – that there was a huge need to provide winter warmth to people of all ages.
“Because of the fantastic response last year, and hearing many stories of people living in their cars and on the street, we have decided to add blankets to our drive,” Kerrie said.
Kerrie said any coats or blankets that were clean, in wearable condition, and had a bit of warmth in them were candidates.
The drop off points are at Yarra Valley Chiropractic clinics, 64 Hereford Road, Mount Evelyn, 4 Hoddle Street, Yarra Junction and 2 Bell Street, Yarra Glen.
