YOU may be surprised to learn that some of the best food in the valley isn’t served up at a restaurant.
Aurrum aged care facility recently announced a partnership with Spotless Group and Melbourne chef and writer Karen Martini to bring the highest quality food to the centre.
Martini has also been announced as the food ambassador at Aurrum.
Kathleen Collings, General Manager of Aurrum Healesville said the innovative menu range was designed to cater to the tastes of residents.
“We are excited to introduce this new dining experience to the Yarra Valley at Auurum Healesville, to a community that has embraced high quality food,” she said.
Some of the delicious dishes that will be served up to residents include a winter minestrone; lamb shanks braised with beer, honey and oregano; filo pie with greens, ricotta, fetta and pumpkin seeds; chicken, leek and mushroom pie; and rigatoni bolognaise with peas and basil.
Ms Martini said she hoped some of her favourite home-cooked dishes would provide a feeling of warmth and familiarity.
“My tuna orechhiette is inspired by the classic tuna-bake,” she said.
“And my lamb shoulder dish is cooked so that the meat falls off the bone and wrapped in my home-made pita bread with yoghurt and cucumber provides a hands-on convivial dish that our residents can share together or with their family for special celebration events.”
The partnership was trialled with great success for the months leading up to the announcement.
Aurrum has five aged care facilities in Victoria and New South Wales, offering over 600 beds with another 150 currently under construction.
The care provider is built around a core philosophy of delivering clinical care excellence for resident and families.
