JACQUELINE and Greg Sheppard have pulled off another spectacular Mountain District Car and Bike Show at the Healesville Sporting Complex.
The couple are the inspiration and the muscle behind the show which has been running for eight years and raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities.
Hundreds of cars and bikes come from all around Yarra Ranges and beyond each year for the show which has been a successful part of Healesville’s summer events calendar for several years.
This year was no different, with hot rods and chromed-up bikes lining up on Sunday, 22 March with classics and vintage beauties.
Yarra Valley enthusiasts held their own in the head-turning stakes with Rob Holland’s 1936 Chev Master 6 wheel equipped speedster a rare treat for those who know their cars; and there were a few of those.
Mr Holland, from Healesville, said it was probably unique.
“They made three for the 1936 Melbourne to Sydney Rally and we believe this is the only one left,” he said.
William Monk from Yarra Junction built his 1966 American Ford F100 from the ground up.
Mr Monk said he bought it from a chap in Woori Yallock who brought two of them out to Australia.
“I’ve built it from the ground up and everything on the vehicle is as it was when it was brand-new in America,” he said.
Ms Sheppard said the aim of the show was to raise money and support community groups, but there’s added benefits for Healesville with the show providing a great family day for locals, and showcasing the town to car enthusiasts from all around the state.
