A 45-year-old rider from Kilsyth was caught during speed detection operations on Maroondah Highway on Sunday 15 February doing 135km/h in the 80km/h speed limit.
He lost his bike for 30 days and will have to pay $1280 to get it back.
Leading Senior Constable Graeme Ruse of the YRHP said he could expect a minimum 12 months’ licence suspension and fines when he appeared at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court in due course.
On the same day, a 25-year-old rider from Craigieburn clocked in at 150km/h in the 80km/h zone.
He suffered the same fate and can expect the same penalties when he appears in court at Ringwood.
Leading Sen Const Rust’s advice to motorbike riders heading out for the popular rides around the Yarra Valley was “slow down and enjoy the scenery and leave those speeds for the track”.
