THE focus on education in this coming week’s election has hotted up along the Warburton Highway in the past few weeks, with the Liberal Government announcing on Monday (17 November) that they would match Labor’s $2 million funding commitment for an upgrade of Yarra Junction Primary School.
On the Sunday, Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews committed a $10 million investment to re-open Swinburne Lilydale which would again provide a tertiary facility for Yarra Valley students moving on to further study.
Labor candidate for Eildon, Sally Brennan, said the $10 million represented a major boost to training provision in the region.
Woori Yallock Primary School would also benefit if the Napthine Government is re-elected with a $1 million upgrade commitment on 3 November, followed by a further $60,000 commitment for electronic school speed signs.
Liberal MP and Eildon Candidate Cindy McLeish visited the schools on Monday with Education Minister Martin Dixon to make the latest announcements.
