YARRA Ranges Council will remove a significant oak tree on Green Street, Healesville, tomorrow – Wednesday 26 November.
The tree, one of three earmarked for removal, has been monitored by council’s arborists.
The condition of the tree, located outside Mocha and Lime Cafe, has deteriorated and, according to Yarra Ranges Council had to go in the interest of public safety.
Yarra Ranges mayor Fiona McAllister said while the trees were a significant part of the streetscape, public safety had to come first.
“Unfortunately, the condition of this tree has deteriorated to point where it must be removed earlier than anticipated. We will continue to monitor the health of the other two trees,” Cr McAllister said.
She said the timing of the works had been planned to reduce disruption to the community following consultation with the cafe owner.
