Long-time residents farewelled

By KATH GANNAWAY

HEALESVILLE has farewelled two long-time residents in recent weeks – and celebrated their lives.
Former Healesville Shire councillor and shire president Jim Melrose passed away on 29 October, aged 75 years. During his nine years on council, Mr Melrose was instrumental in the development of the Don Road Sporting Complex. He was involved in a number of community organisations over the years and with his wife Beth raised their family in Badger Creek.
Bryce Crow was born at Healesville Hospital and lived all his life in the town. He was a member of the Healesville CFA and the Yarra Valley 4WD Club, among other passions. He was an integral part of the town’s business community as owner, with his wife Catherine, of Healesville Stockfeeds in the East End, and before that ran Crows Transport. Bryce, 46, and dad to Mitchell and Georgia, passed away on 7 November.
Jim and Bryce will be sadly missed by their friends, and those who came to know them in many different ways as part of the Healesville community.
The Mail extends condolences to their families and will pay tribute to each of them in coming weeks.
