THE mega Koha Community Cafe music festival is on again. So, save the date – Sunday 23 November, for 12 hours of live entertainment and more.
Dig out your dancing shoes and put on your favourite shirt because the Cafe Koha Fund-raiser Music Festival is boogying its way back to Wild Thyme Cafe in Warburton, kicking off at 11am with the beautiful harmonies of Sweet Afton followed by Vocal Adventurer, multi-instrumentist and looping beatboxing Melbourne songwriter Mal Webb.
There’ll be fine jazz by Santha Press and the Fabulous Few, then dip your toe into West Africa culture where the master of drums Kofi Kunkpe will be leading a drumming circle.
This event will then shamelessly shimmy its way through the afternoon and evening with a smorgasbord of eclectic local bands.
Gorge yourself with the cream of local and Melbourne artists and performers such as ‘Full fat’, ‘Monkeys Wedding’, ‘The Phosphenes’, Sin Frontera band and The Anecdote.
The festival is a family friendly event with donkey rides along the river just to prove it.
Admission is $10 for adults and gold donation for children under the age of 16 with 100 per cent of funds going to Koha Community Cafe.
Koha is a community-based cafe where anyone can have a meal and pay what they can afford, or what they think it is worth. It opens from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday evenings at the Yarraburn Centre in Park Road, Yarra Junction.
