LILYDALE children have been left without a playground after equipment in Melba Park burnt down overnight.
Emergency services responded to a call at 5.40am today (Thursday 6 November).
The fire caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage, and police are investigating.
Lilydale CIU Detective Leading Senior Constable Bridget de Chirico told the Mail that police had already responded to an attempted fire at Melba Park playground in the early hours of Monday morning.
“There have been a number (of attempts) since early October,” Det de Chirico said.
“These fires have been overnight usually, or in the early hours of the morning.”
