A DRIVER was trapped for an hour in the heat this morning (Thursday) after crashing her vehicle into a traffic light in Launching Place.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the hill next to the Home Hotel about 9.50am.
Police, ambulance, CFA and SES crews responded to the accident, with members of Hillcrest and Yarra Junction CFA along with Upper Yarra SES Rescue working to free her.
Emergency services members helped to divert traffic around the scene of the crash while the car was moved away from the traffic lights, the driver was rescued and wreckage was cleared from the road.
The driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance with multiple leg injuries and a suspected head wound, but the full extent of her injuries is currently unknown.
