Missy has been found!
Missy, the pinto mare, went missing on Saturday 12 October at 2pm in the Toolangi State Forest, near Monda Road, and was led out of the scrub about 10.30am this morning.
Bearing few visible injuries, apart from saddle-rubbing, Missy appeared to be in good health and good spirits as she was fed carrots by her emotional owner, Gladys Ramsay.
Horseman Michael Whitehead was the driving force behind Missy’s recovery this morning, after taking two days off of work and sleeping in the Toolangi State Forest last night.
He said that he found Missy’s tracks alongside a stream, where he later found the horse this morning.
Gladys and her boyfriend Robert Finn, who helped to co-ordinate search parties, were ecstatic and thankful for the community response, which saw more than 1300 people like the Find Toolangi Missy page on Facebook and about 40 people assist with the search effort.
