TUESDAY: THE A Day on the Green concert series at Rochford Winery is set to begin in just over a month, with former Powderfinger front-man Bernard Fanning being the first to take the stage.
Fanning’s concert, which will be held on Saturday 9 November, will be the first act for this year’s season of the A Day on the Green concerts, which draw thousands of people to the Yarra Valley.
He will be playing at the Healesville venue alongside Sarah Blasko, Bob Evans and The Cruel Sea, with all four musicians being first-timers for the series.
Mr Fanning said he was looking forward to the show.
“I have been hearing about them for years and am glad to be playing my new songs in such a dignified setting,” he said.
He said that he had not spent a lot of time in the wine regions that he would be playing in as part of the A Day on the Green concerts.
“I’ve seen a bit of the Barossa with the family when I was a kid, but I am really looking forward to it,” he said.
“Pretty hard to pass up good food, wine and music in combination.”
Mr Fanning said he was delighted to have three Australian acts performing alongside him at the shows.
His show will begin the 13th year of A Day on the Green events.
The event is fully licensed, though BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited.
Food will be available at the event, though visitors can bring their own picnic and deck chairs and picnic rugs are recommended to be bought on the day.
Tickets are now on sale for the Bernard Fanning concert at Rochford Winery and can be purchased by visiting www.rochfordwines.com or 5962 2119.
