School couldn’t wish for better show

By JESSE GRAHAM

HEALESVILLE High School students established themselves as formidable performers following their rendition of Aladdin which drew ticket sales into the hundreds.
About 50 students and staff members from the high school were involved in the Aladdin Jr performances, which ran in four shows from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 August.
Performing Arts Centre manager Troy Jansen said the shows went off without a hitch.
“It was absolutely fantastic – the lines were read back properly and the songs were great,” he said.
“We couldn’t be more proud of our students.”
Mr Jansen said that total ticket sales for the four events totalled more than 700 and that the public’s attendance inspired confidence in those taking part.
“We’re incredibly happy with the response from the community in terms of ticket sales,” he said.
“There was between 100 and 200 people per show – it was fantastic for the kids to see so many people there to support them.”
Around one eighth of the school population was involved in the show, either by performing, or in co-ordinating sound and lighting – an area that was completely student-run on the days of the events.
“It was amazing to see the kids step up and own their role – they did it very professionally,” Mr Jansen said.
The Aladdin Jr shows were the result of six months of preparation and rehearsals and Mr Jansen said the staff at the high school were beginning to plan next year’s production.
