TONIGHT’S Code One Police Band concert at Yarra Glen Racecourse has been cancelled after the announcement that the band is to be disbanded.
The concert, for primary school students across the Yarra Valley, was cancelled at 2pm yesterday.
At the time it was said that the move was because of confidential reasons.
But earlier today Victoria Police announced the 122-year-old band was disbanding.
Yarra Glen Police’s Youth Liaison Officer Senior Constable Adam Dickenson said he was notified about 2pm yesterday that the Code One Police Band would not be performing at the event tonight.
Sen Const Dickenson said it he was disappointed about the announcement.
“It’s a sad day, but there’s not much we can do about it,” he said.
Yarra Glen Primary School was contacted with the news in time to notify students’ parents via their school newsletter.
However, Sen Const Dickenson said he would visit the racecourse after 5pm to inform any visitors who hadn’t heard of the cancellation.
