BRAD King is keen to find the love of his life, and he’s teamed up with his mum to make it happen!
He and match-maker mum Margaret were launched into the world of reality television last night (Monday) as one of three mother/son teams on Channel 7s Please Marry My Boy.
And, as would be expected, the keen sportsman who went to Woori Yallock Primary School and Upper Yarra Secondary College and played cricket and football for the Tigers, told the Mail on Friday the ribbing by mates has already started.
“I would have thought there was something wrong if it hadn’t; it’s all in good fun,” he said.
That pretty much sums up his philosophy to the show as well; although he is serious about finding that special someone.
Hosted by Home and Away favourite Ada Nicodemou, the second season of the ratings-winning dating show started with speed dating 10 beautiful bridal hopefuls.
At the end of the night each mum invited three girls home to live with the family in wonderful Woori.
Episode two will air on Thursday 1 August at 8pm with the all-important first date as the prize.
The 27-year-old is the youngest of Margaret and Roger King’s three sons and, by his own admission, is a bit shy when it comes to dating.
Margaret, like any mum, just wants her boy to be happy… and happily married.
Despite the friendly ribbing, Brad said it wasn’t a hard decision to call on his mum for help.
“I thought it would definitely make things a bit easier, and the whole thing has been lots of fun for the whole family,” he said.
While Brad is known to have ‘blonde’ and ‘sporty’ on his list of what his dream lady might look like, he says a sense of humour is also important, and there’s a lot about his parents’ marriage that he can draw on for inspiration.
“They’ve stuck together through everything, always by each other’s side, and they like to have a bit of a laugh,” he said.
“I think a relationship should be a 50/50 arrangement, not all about me, and not all about her, and that’s how mum and dad have been as well.” he added.
Does he get the girl?
That’s a family secret… and even his mum is keeping mum on that one.
Fair to say that the Mail has fingers crossed for romance for Brad, a daughter-in-law for Margaret and Roger, and an exclusive for our next Wedding Bells magazine!
