Matt Frarraccio soared in his 100th senior game for Healesville on Saturday, spoiling Yarra Junction opponent Adrian Dajlan. Healesville came away with their 13th win in a row, defeating the unjury-plagued Eagles, 21.24.150 to 6.7.43. 102392 Picture: KATH GANNAWAY

FINE CONDITIONS again greeted the Yarra Valley Mountain District Community Bank Football Netball league in a round where Upwey, Wandin and Woori Yallock look to be the stand out chances for the 2013 premiership.  Fourth and fifth place is still up for grabs with both Belgrave and Warburton Millgrove struggling to maintain form and possibly their spot in the top five.
DIVISION 1
Upwey Tecoma v Belgrave
After an even first half with Upwey leading by just nine points it was the second half where Upwey showed Belgrave what First Division is all about. Upwey dominated the second half skipping out to a 26 point lead at three quarter time, then blowing Belgrave away in the last quarter kicking nine-goals-to-two to win big and remain firmly on top of the ladder.
Upwey Tecoma 20.15 (135) d Belgrave 9.16 (70)

Emerald v Gembrook Cockatoo
There was a distinct scoring advantage going to one end of the ground as there were 18 out of the 21 goals scored for the day scored at that particular end. It was always going to be a battle of the defences and it was Emerald third quarter where they came from 13 points down to pile on eight goals to just one point to take a very handy 29 point lead going into the last. Gembrook had the scoring end in the last quarter but Emeralds defence stood tall as they came away with a terrific 22 point victory.
Emerald 12.15 (87) d Gembrook Cockatoo 9.11 (65)

Woori Yallock v Warburton Millgrove
Woori never looked overly threatened in this game as they took control early with a six-goal-to-two first quarter, Warby did narrow the lead to just 17 points at the long break but it was Woori that came out full of running in the third quarter, booting eight-goals-to-four and the lead was out to 43 points at the last change. Woori’s Nicholas Tarrant had a great day in front of the sticks booting seven majors. The last quarter was an even contest with both teams scoring four goals but it was Woori Yallock that looked the better team for the majority of the day and thoroughly deserved their victory.
Woori Yallock 19.7 (121) d Warburton Millgrove 11.11 (77)

Wandin v Monbulk
It took Wandin the best part of three-and-a-bit quarters to finally shake off a Monbulk team that played with a never say die attitude. Monbulk held a one point advantage at half time and it was anybody’s game. Wandin looked a bit more composed in the third quarter booting five-goals-to-three and at three quarter time Wandin held a narrow nine point lead. The last quarter was where Wandin showed their class finishing the day with an eight-goal-to-four quarter. Wandin’s Michael Fowkes was proving a real headache for Monbulk as he had a day out booting a bag of 10 majors in a great display.
Wandin 21.14 (140) d Monbulk 15.15 (105)

Mount Evelyn v Olinda Ferny Creek
After a reasonably even first half with Mount Evelyn leading by just 16 points it was Mount Evelyn that took complete control for the remainder of the match booting 13-goals-to-five in the second half. It was Mount Evelyn’s third quarter where they put the game beyond doubt booting eight-goals-to-three; they then finished the day off with a five-goals-to-two last quarter in a long awaited four quarter performance which saw them win by a healthy 62 points.
Mount Evelyn 18.11 (119) d Olinda Ferny Creek 8.9 (57)

DIVISION 2
Seville v Alexandra
Seville is starting to look ominous as they made short work of Alexandra. Seville held Alex to just one behind in the first quarter while they booted four majors but it was the second quarter where Seville slotted through seven-goals-to-one to put the game out of reach of Alex at half time. Seville added another six-goals-to-two in the third to extend the lead out to 82 points and they would have been eyeing off a 100 point plus victory however Alex did manage to outscore Seville in the last by 13 points to make the scoreboard a little more respectable.
Seville 18.11 (119) d Alexandra 7.11 (53)

Yarra Glen v Kinglake
At quarter time of this game Yarra Glen was 8.5.53 to Kinglake 0.0.0 and it looked like Yarra Glen was in for a massive score. The second quarter saw Yarra Glen drop right off and they only managed five behinds while Kinglake booted 2.3 for the term. Yarra Glen booted eight-goals-to-two in the second half in a game that didn’t reach any great heights. Kinglake would have been reasonably happy with their effort as they have struggled of late while Yarra Glen will take the win but will certainly know that they were a long way off their best.
Yarra Glen 16.21 (117) d Kinglake 4.8 (32)

Healesville v Yarra Junction
Healesville continue to dominate the competition after smashing fourth on the ladder Yarra Junction by 107 points. At half time Healesville held a 64 point lead which probably should have been even greater if they were a little more polished around goal. Healesville continued to stretch their lead in the second half booting 10-goals-to-four and winning by over 100 points for the seventh time this season.
Healesville 21.24 (150) d Yarra Junction 6.7 (43)

Powelltown v Yea
Powelltown was always in control from the start but Yea was quite competitive up to half time before Powelly blew them away in the second half. Powelltown’s second half of footy was exceptional as they piled on 14 goals to three. Powelltown’s Daniel Wilson was superb booting 10 of his teams 24 goals. Powelltown now sit two games clear in fifth spot and certainly look finals bound from here.
Powelltown 24.15 (159) d Yea 9.10 (64)

UNDER 18s
Upwey Tecoma v Belgrave
A seven-goal-to-one first half in Upwey’s favour set up their victory here. Upwey controlled the play pretty much for the entirety of the game hardly letting Belgrave get any clean possession. A really clinical four quarter performance by Upwey that sees them remains on top of the ladder.
Upwey Tecoma 13.16 (94) d Belgrave 3.11 (29)

Emerald v Seville
Seville went to the quarter time break with a one point lead but that was the only time they were to lead in this game as Emerald booted three-goals-to-just-two behinds in the second quarter and at half time it was Emerald by 19 points. The second half was a great battle, every time Seville narrowed the lead and looked dangerous Emerald would hit back and they always seemed to have the answers when it counted. A great contest with a very deserving winner in Emerald.
Emerald 11.9 (75) d Seville 9.8 (62)

Woori Yallock v Warburton Millgrove
Warburton lead by six points at half time but probably should have been a bit further in front as poor kicking let them down which ultimately cost them in the end. Woori Yallock played a good third quarter holding Warby to one goal while they scored four majors to go to the last break with a 15 point lead. The last quarter was a hard fought scrap, Warby outscored Woori two-goals-to-one but it wasn’t to be enough as Woori came away with a gutsy nine point victory.
Woori Yallock 8.8 (56) d Warburton Millgrove 6.11 (47)

Olinda Ferny Creek v Mount Evelyn
A really high standard of footy was played in the first quarter with 11 goals being scored in a fast paced game, Olinda holding a seven point lead at the first change. The second quarter saw the game slow down a bit as there was only three goals scored but it was Olinda that went into half time with a 15 point lead. Olinda’s third term was excellent as they ran the ball brilliantly booting six-goals-to-two and by three quarter time Olinda had blown the lead out to 42 points. A four-goal-to-three last quarter in Olinda’s favour saw them run out comfortable winners by 48 points in what was a good brand of footy.
Olinda Ferny Creek 18.9 (117) d Mount Evelyn 11.3 (69)

Wandin v Healesville
A complete four quarter performance from Wandin never let Healesville get into the game. Wandin led by 30 points at half time then extended that lead to 50 points by three quarter time, Healesville only managing three goals to this point as they couldn’t penetrate Wandin’s excellent defensive work. Wandin stretched that lead in the last as they booted four-goals-to-two to win by a hefty 65 points.
Wandin 15.12 (102) d Healesville 5.7 (37)
