A MOVEABLE feast will be available over the weekend as the Yarra Valley Smaller Wineries’ Shortest Lunch events begin on Saturday with good music, good food and good wine.
The Shortest Lunch events make use of entrée-sized meals and allow visitors to travel to boutique wineries around the valley, without the hustle-and-bustle of larger venues.
The events are timed to coincide with the shortest weekend of the year, the winter solstice, and 13 wineries will be opening their cellar doors for the whole weekend.
Each of the 13 wineries, which include Healesville’s Boat O’Craigo and Seville’s Payne’s Rise, will have live musicians performing over the weekend.
Available at each venue will be a range of foods and the wines unique to each winery.
A one-off entry fee of $10 will be collected at the first winery visited where patrons will receive a souvenir glass required for wine tasting.
Net proceeds from the Shortest Lunch events will be shared by local CFA crews and the event has raised $20,000 since 2009.
Events will run from 10am-5pm on 22-23 June.
