HAVING had a further gander at the ‘duck’ (Mail Facebook Feedback 16 April)… turns out it’s a goose!
A goose that is enjoying a tree-change in Healesville after enjoying the limelight as part of the Arts Centre Melbourne’s summer holiday program.
Just when this goose’s goose seemed cooked (there was talk of the tip!!) it was rescued by ACM production manager Carmel Duffy and ‘installed’ on Newgrove Road adding to the growing arts culture of the town.
Ms Duffy posted on the Mail’s Facebook page that the ‘GOOSE’ is a creation by artist Amanda King.
“She was commissioned by Arts Centre Melbourne to create the framework of the goose and a five-metre high horse which was then part the Arts Centre’s Summer Families program where kids made flowers from recycled materials to dress the animals and complete the beautiful artwork,” she posted.
“The horse and goose were chosen to link into the WarHorse season at Arts Centre Melbourne.”
Ms Duffy said she took it home to Newgrove Road so that it wasn’t destroyed or locked up in a store… and so many more people could enjoy the surprise of such a lovely sculpture.
“Feel free to add more white flowers to keep her down looking gorgeous,” she invited.
Amanda King’s website has other examples of her fabulous huge animal creations.
