Warby juniors show winning form

By MARA PATTISON-SOWDEN

BALLS were flying across the valley on the 23 March with Healesville and Warburton juniors ably representing their clubs.
This is the first year the junior team at Warburton has competed, and the first junior team to represent Warburton in many years.
They played Miller Park, winning 6/44 to 2/18.
In the Healesville juniors, the girls singles/doubles section 9: Healesville’s Lucy Flamsteed, Teihana Callen, Caitlin Cosson, Kelly Wallace and Kate Methven lost their semi-final to Warrandyte.
The girls singles/doubles section 5: Healesville defeated Heatherdale in the semi-final and played the previously undefeated Montrose Green in the grand final. To their great credit, the Healesville team defeated Montrose Green, 3/27 to 3/25.
While the seniors’ open section 4 lost the semi-final to North Kew, and the open section 8 lost the semi-final to Koonung Park.
Healesville Tennis Club’s winter season starts on 20 April, while Warburton Tennis Club is holding a junior tennis tournament on 19 April for anyone interested in giving tennis a go.
It will be part of the club’s annual Tennis Cup on the weekend 19 to 21 April, with ladies and men’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles, social and graded levels.
