Council drags feet on Antique store

An antique store in East Warburton will continue to gather dust as councillors still deliberate on its future, awaiting proof of its past.
Yarra Ranges councillors last week deferred a decision on an application to reopen an antiques store in Woods Point Road, citing there was not enough evidence that the building had existed as a bric-a-brac store in the past.
The issue of prior use was raised by council officers after the store had not been used since 2008 since the owner at the time Richard Kleineke passed away.
But new owner Gary Swinnerton said all stock in the store remained inside until he purchased it in 2011, meaning the shop never stopped being an antiques store.
Councillors decided they needed more time to view the evidence and deferred the motion until the next council meeting in two weeks.
