Fun and frolic at family festival

Kids can enjoy a fun day out.

YARRA Valley families and visitors alike are being invited to the second annual Upper Yarra Family Festival.
The festival is a fun and entertaining day that aims to raise awareness in the community of the good work that local service groups do.
Run by the Rotary Club of Upper Yarra, the day showcases locally made products and services, including schools, car clubs, sporting clubs, musicians and arts and craft groups, dancing and theatre groups.
President Paul Coleman said after the success of last year’s event, this year should be even better.
“We will be providing families – local and visitors – with an entertaining and informative fun-filled day, whether participating or just spectating, and (it will be) held within the picturesque grounds of Wesburn Park,” he said.
“In the future, we wish to raise enough funds to be able to give back to the park and also continue our work within the community and to participate with international humanitarian works.
”There will be a market section for the adults and billy cart races for the children.
With the motto “service above self”, Upper Yarra Rotary Club has spent more than 30 years giving back to the community including building and rebuilding the Yarra Junction Rotary playground, sending children on a Portsea Camp, involving children and young adults in leadership camps, and helping and raising funds for the library to be formed and the ambulance station to be built.
The Upper Yarra Family Festival will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 23 March at Wesburn Park with a gold coin entry donation.
