REGISTRATIONS have opened for this year’s National Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Breakfast events and people are urged to get involved in a year that’s easier than ever.
Over the last five years, Yarra Valley and Murrindindi Shire residents have raised $59,547 for the NBCF, which went towards research in detection and treatments for breast cancer sufferers.
The foundation is urging people to get involved again this year, to help raise $2.25 million across the country.
Participants can register online to host an event at home or their business, as well as purchasing merchandise packs to sell at events.
The merchandise packs cost $95 and include pins, wristbands, shopping bags and phone cases. Products range in cost from three to eight dollars.
Foundation CEO, Carole Renouf said that the foundation’s next goal is to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
“That’s where the funds raised through the Pink Ribbon Breakfast come in,” she said.
Mrs Renouf congratulated residents and businesses from the Yarra Valley and Murrindindi Shires who have held events and breakfasts in the past.
She also stressed the importance of people hosting events, saying every participant would “help bring us one step closer to zero deaths from breast cancer.”
