LOCATED opposite Healesville’s beautiful Queen’s Park, Paramparaa Indian restaurant brings the authentic tastes, aromas and atmosphere of India to Healesville.
Chef Karthik Karanam and his wife Mona took over as new owners of the restaurant in April last year and with tandori chef Chiranjeevi, curry chef Surya and waiters Ashu and Raj, have built the business into one of Healesville’s most popular foreign cuisine restaurants.
Karthik honed his skills in five star restaurants in India and along with Chiranjeevi and Surya takes pride in presenting authentic dishes from many different parts of India.
“Our mission is to deliver authentic and delicious Indian cuisine using the freshest produce and ingredients,” Karthik said.
His signature dishes are chicken cashew and mushroom and coriander prawns with a number of chef’s specialties including chicken mumtaj, chilli chicken and vegetable fried rice.
Karthik says the secret to Indian cuisine is the complex and layered flavours which are suffused in every dish served on the plate.
The extensive menu provides excellent choice from entrees through to main dishes, including a wide range of vegetarian dishes and milder dishes, such as butter chicken and korma to appeal to children.
For groups, or for those who simply can’t choose a favourite dish on the night, the chefs at Paramparaa have put together two amazing banquets to choose from.
The décor at Paramparaa is also authentic Indian setting the scene for a dining experience which is not only about the excellent food and service, but very much about creating atmosphere.
The restaurant is fully licensed with a range of mixed drinks, wines, beers and soft drinks, but patrons can also bring along a favourite bottle of wine to have with their meal if they choose to.
A function room is available for parties and meetings and, with the exception of some seafood dishes, the extensive Paramparaa menu is also available for take-away at a reduced price.
“We are planning to introduce more theme nights for our customers so that it can be a memorable night for them every time they dine in with us,” Karthik said.
As he and his team at Paramparaa look forward to celebrating their first year in Healesville, they say they are looking forward to welcoming back the many patrons who have become regular diners, and introducing their authentic Indian experience to many more.
Paramparaa, at 271-273 Maroondah Highway, Healesville, is open for lunch on weekends and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday, with plans to open every night soon.
