A HEALESVILLE P-plater who blew almost twice the legal blood alcohol limit for a fully licensed driver, has also blown his licence … and his car.
The 18-year-old driver drove off after Healesville police saw him doing burnouts near the police station about 2am on Saturday 3 March.
Police caught up with him in Smith Street where he had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the front gate of a house.
Sgt Wayne Williams said a breath test showed a blood alcohol reading of .097.
“Being an 18-year-old who has only had a driver’s licence for two months, he is not permitted to have any alcohol in his system at all,” Sgt Williams said.
Sgt Williams said the youth’s probationary licence was immediately suspended, his vehicle was impounded and he will be charged on summons with a range of offences including drink driving and evading police.
